17 July: Inaugural meeting arranged by Donald Hood-Wright (Weston-super-Mare GC) with 18 local Secretaries.

At this time, only three other regions existed: Scottish, North Eastern, Midlands.

Later that year, a second South West meeting was held at Burnham.

From this point, Spring and Autumn meetings became regular.
